Residential development along the Grienbach, apartment building
Client: Pensionskasse der Stadt Zug
Location: Ahornstrasse 2-8, 6300 Zug
Number of apartments: 56
Completion: 2015
At the corner of Baarerstrasse and Ahornstrasse, this new building for the City of Zug's pension fund presents itself as a striking, curved longitudinal structure. In terms of urban development, the 6-storey building is in dialogue with the existing high-rise building. It lies along the Grienbach, which has been upgraded with a public footpath. In the west, towards Baarerstrasse, a spacious urban outdoor space opens up. The structure is pierced in three places, connecting the open space at the front with the green brook area at the rear. The apartments are organised according to the open-plan principle. They benefit from an optimal east-west orientation and a view of the two different outdoor areas. The uncomplicated, material-appropriate architectural design of the entire structure, together with the lavishly designed park landscape in the area, guarantees high overall quality and timeless aesthetic relevance.
